Moving to the EC2 Area - A Guide to Moving in
Posted on 07/08/2014
Moving from your home and into the EC2 area is likely to be a very busy and stressful time, with lots going on and a hundred different things to remember it is so simple to forget to do something important. To help you to remember everything it is a good idea to make a list of the lists that need to be done, something that you can refer back to throughout the course of your move up to and including moving day.
Here is an idea of some of the things that you could include on your list:
Leave plenty of time to make the big decisions, such as when you are going to move, where to, what kind of property etc.
Before you move into the new property you should make sure that you are registered with the relevant medical professionals, mainly, your doctor, dentist, vets and opticians. This will include making sure that you and your family have enough medication to last the duration of your move.
Get your post re-directed to your new address by contacting royal mail and informing them of the date that you are moving.
Keep any ‘moving documentation’ on you, especially on moving day when you are most likely to need it.
You need to collate all of your important documents, which will include things like your insurance documents, your birth certificates, marriage certificates, pension documents and wills, and anything that you consider valuable, sentimental or important or any cash that you have. Put all of these things together in a box and keep it close to you during moving day, make sure this box never leaves your sight for longer than is necessary.
Remember to collect the keys for your new home as soon as you can, if you can get these before moving day then you might be able to give your new property a clean before you move in.
Plan out where everything is going to go in your new home, get the blueprints of your new property or if these aren’t available then make a sketch of your new home. Use this to start planning where your things are going to go, not only will this help you to make sure you can fit everything into your new home, but it will make it much quicker when it comes to unloading the van, moving in and settling in.
De-clutter your home as much as possible before starting to pack up your home, make sure you get rid of anything that you don’t want or need. Remember that when you move home you pay the removal company for the amount of things that they have to move, therefore you may be paying the company to move things that you don’t actually want to keep. When you de-clutter choose a room to start with and completely de-clutter this room before moving onto the next one. Try to recycle as much of the stuff you’re getting rid of as you can, or donate anything that you think could be re-sold.
Make sure you pack in good time, rushing the packing may result in the things not being properly protected and then getting damaged or broken during transit. Make sure you buy things like bubble wrap and foam peanuts to wrap around your things, protect them while they are inside the box, and help them to not shift when they are being moved.
Hire a removals company in plenty of time.
